BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

The American Academy of Pediatrics is pleased to offer 2 online, interactive role-play simulations where health professionals build and assess their skills to have real-life conversation with adolescent patients about substance use and/or mental health concerns.

A suite of (2) products focus on helping health professionals conduct substance use Screening & Brief Intervention (SBI) and refer to obtain additional support. Simulations include SBI with Adolescents and At-Risk in Primary Care-Adolescents. Both simulations provide a virtual practice environment where users learn by engaging in interactive role-play conversations in a clinical setting with emotionally-responsive, virtual youth.

SBI with Adolescents simulation takes about 80 minutes and At-Risk in Primary Care-Adolescents takes about 40 minutes to complete.

The availability of the online simulations to AAP members was funded in part by the AAP Friends of Children Fund.

Some results may be used at the aggregate level for research purposes.

PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING SUBSTANCES

Learn to talk with teens about supplements, stimulants and steroids and build their motivation to quit.

This simulation takes approximately 35 minutes to complete. This first-of-its-kind resource can be used for continuing medical education. More CME credit information is provided within the simulation.
