About

At-Risk for College Students is an evidence-based online program to improve emotional wellness and safety on campus. Unlike other gatekeeper-training programs, At-Risk is a simulation that utilizes emotionally responsive, virtual humans in a gaming environment. The program is designed to teach participants how to recognize signs of psychological distress in a fellow student and allows them to practice, through role-play conversations, how to approach at-risk students, how to discuss their concerns, and how to connect them with resources on and off campus. Training provides gatekeepers with the skills and confidence they need to handle similar situations in real life.

At-Risk for College Students is the most widely used online program for student mental health in the U.S., with more than 350 colleges and universities offering the program on campus. It is a scalable, cost-effective solution to improve mental health gatekeeper skills, attitudes, and behaviors. At-Risk is also the first and only simulation-based training program for college student mental health included in the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
