Users are introduced to their virtual coach and learn about psychological distress, how it impacts college students, and what they can do when they’re concerned about a student.
Users are introduced to a student who has good grades but is overly worried about her performance and anxious about exams and presentations. Users practice talking with this student and bringing up what they’ve noticed without making her defensive, and making a referral to a counselor.
Users are introduced to a student whose behavior has become increasingly erratic over the semester. Users practice talking with him to better understand what's going on, and making a referral to a counselor.
Users are introduced to a student whose grades and attendance are getting worse, and he’s not turning in assignments. Users practice talking with him and about their concern and making a referral.
Throughout the simulation, users have access to a printable summary and a web page that includes a list of specific mental health resources available that Kognito customizes per client.
The simulation is available online 24/7. Users are asked to complete pre-, post-, and 3-month follow-up surveys to assess changes in skills, attitudes, and behavior. Upon completion, users receive a certificate of completion. Clients have access to usage reports and evaluation data via the Kognito client portal.
