Virtual simulations for educators & studentsPlay Video
PD that meets educators (any)where they are
Remote learning that fosters real connection
Educational institutions are getting creative to meet the needs of their school communities with remote learning for students and staff. Now more than ever, the conversations that educators have with students, and that students have with each other, can make a vital impact on their health, safety, and wellbeing.
Our simulations cover a range of relevant topics that empower school employees to harness the power of conversation in order to create measurable changes in the social and emotional health of students:
- Mental health/Suicide prevention
- Trauma-informed practices
- Social emotional learning
- Coping with loss
- Mental health/Suicide prevention
- Sexual misconduct prevention
- LGBTQ cultural competency
- Military cultural competency
By using virtual humans and real-life scenarios, these learning experiences are engaging, interactive, and proven to be effective. And because they are online, they can be accessed any time, anywhere.
Schools Changing the Conversation
FAIRFAX COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Large Suburban School District Supports At-Risk Students
Fairfax County Public Schools leverages Kognito simulations to equip more than 20,000 educators with the knowledge and skills to support at-risk students in their community. These trainings led to a 30-40% increase in the number of students whom educators spoke with and referred to mental health services.
UNIVERSITY OF IOWA
College Raises Student Awareness Around Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
The University of Iowa first launched Kognito’s At-Risk simulation—which prepares students to recognize students in distress and connect them with support—with its first-year students. After a widely positive response, they have since rolled it out to the entire student body, and now plan to market the training to the entire campus community to include faculty and staff.
BROWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
One Of America’s Largest School Districts Helps Staff Feel More Prepared To Recognize And Respond To Bullying
Broward County is a leader in bullying prevention, and uses Kognito’s Building Respect simulation to provide relevant anti-bullying content addressing minority groups to 17,000+ teachers and staff across 241 schools. This training is available online through the district’s existing learning management system, and has helped staff feel more prepared to identify and respond to bullying: 97% rated the simulation as “good”, “very good”, or “excellent”, and 90% would recommend the simulation to other educators and school staff.
Liberal Arts College Unites Campus to Talk About Student Mental Health
Bucknell University leverages Kognito’s At-Risk suite for staff and students to build awareness, knowledge, and skills about mental health and suicide prevention through conversation. In the 2019 school year, new Bucknell students completed the simulation as part of their orientation, along with hundreds of faculty and staff members. After the training, 96% of campus student leaders reported that they were “very likely,” “likely,” or “somewhat likely” to discuss their concerns with a student exhibiting signs of psychological distress.
Get up and running in less than a week
Remote learning is designed to be readily available, and setup should be too. You need a solution that is easy for educators, students, and staff to access regardless of where they are or the devices they have access to.
Our support doesn’t stop with technology. Kognito’s Client Success Team works closely with our clients on rollout, promotion, and assessment to help them meet their training goals.
Kognito provides technical support that can get set up within a week. Our simulations can be delivered via Kognito’s Learning Management System, or integrated with your own LMS—whichever works best for you.
By reducing the admin time commitment typically needed for clients to make these programs successful, your school community can access needed training sooner to lead to the real connections and support systems that are needed now.
