Overview

What if every student gained the knowledge and skills to navigate difficult situations related to sexual misconduct in a safe and private practice environment? Kognito’s Sexual Misconduct Prevention for Students fosters a safer campus culture around issues related to sexual misconduct and federal Title IX requirements. This product equips college students with the skills to be an active bystander, respond effectively to a friend who has experienced trauma, and determine if consent has been given. Trigger warnings will be given during the introduction as well as leading students into each of the scenarios to be mindful of their experience and how the content may effect them. Users have access to customized national, local, and school-specific resources in addition to simulation content.

The goal of Sexual Misconduct Prevention for Students is to engage students in critical thinking to equip them to navigate difficult situations, leading to a safer and more connected campus.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the importance of preventing sexual assault and recognize warning signs
  • Analyze strategies for intervening and how to respond effectively in situations where peers have been affected by sexual violence or misconduct
  • Differentiate between on- and off-campus confidential and non-confidential resource services, and know when and how to refer peers
  • Determine when consent has or has not been given, and how to ask for, give, and not give sexual consent

Extensive research shows that with experiential practice, increased emotional engagement and reflective thinking leads to stronger self-efficacy and behavior change.

Simulation content was created with input from Title IX legal experts, sexual assault prevention leaders, instructional designers, and real students. It includes diverse examples of sexual orientation and gender identity.

This product includes content required by law and is consistent with student training requirements under the Clery Act, the Campus SaVE Act, and Title IX guidelines. Customize your own list of campus resources.

Students receive customized feedback based on their in-simulation choices.

The simulation is available online 24/7. Users are asked to complete pre-, post-, and 3-month follow up surveys to assess changes in skills. Attitudes, and behavior. Upon completion, users receive a certificate of completion.  Clients have access to usage reports and evaluation data via the Kognito client portal.
